Meet Stefania Picheca, Hospitality EQ Coach & Facilitator at Your Turn Solutions, people enthusiast and chapter co-leader for RaizUp USA.
What are your superpowers?
- Listening: deeply beyond the words. Intuition: my gut feeling is part of the equation
- Supporter: walking by your side as you change and grow
- Creative: love to design trainings filled with the unexpected
- Humour: give me a good laugh anyday
- Curious: there is always more to discover, behind the mask
- I can also lift just one eyebrow at the time!
How do your strengths play into the work you do?
Creativity, intuition, curiosity and listening skills are at the centre of my work as an Executive Coach and a Facilitator. Most of the time, the “challenge” presented to me represents the outer shell of a deeper issue. It’s what’s visible and we can describe. The behaviour or outcome that we want to change or improve. I listen hard, without judgement or ready made solutions, till we get to the centre of the matter. That’s when the transformation begins.
Imagine your best hotel experience – what does it look like?
I love to travel off the beaten path. It is often isolation and tranquillity I am longing for. Interacting with the local community, hear the stories from the source, eating local and supporting the local economy. I wasn’t always like that! Back in the days, give me pizza please! My ideal hotel has any body of water visible from the balcony. I love to arrive late at night, when it’s dark, and be surprised when the sun rises. I enjoy interacting with the staff, and will take any questions they feel like asking.
What brings you the greatest joy at work?
When people share how working together changed their life. It’s the most profound reward, and a huge responsibility. The reality is that they have done all the work for themselves. I was just walking by their side, as they went from where they are to where they wanted to be.
Your advice for women in hospitality and travel-tech?
To speak up, and not let others define who you are, and who you are meant to be. There are so many remarkable women out there, who do everything in their power to stay small – even when they really want to grow and be bigger (in whatever way they intend it).
