What was your first travel job and what did it teach you?
I started off as a professional traveler since my early age and have admired all travel related professions while I discovered the world, being attracted by them all: hostess, receptionists, tour guide, travel agents.
To be quite honest I fell into travel, evolving from real estate broker into holiday rental manager and starting to offer all the tourists related service to our guests: transfers, day trips, experiences, advice on what to do. It taught me that i am a people’s person and I like to make them happy by providing the best possible experience on their holiday.
Which company in hospitality / travel tech you admire and why?
- Room Mate, because of their approach of making you feel at home while being extremely professionals, how they value the people that work with them, their sustainability programs, the vision of their founder making them expand quickly and swiftly and how they helped out during the pandemic.
- G Travel: a very ethical tour company that involves local people in their tours and make sure the money spent by the tourists stay in the destination, a true inspiration for me and they inspired me to write the “how to be sustainable when travelling” article.
- Travel tech: Lodgify, our software provider of website, channel manager and PMS. Not only they provide good software at an ethical price, but also write a blog about holiday rentals, best practices, travel trends in various languages.
What’s one book/movie every tourism professional should watch/read?
The Looptail by Bruce Poon Tip
Why did you become a RaizUP Chapter leader?
To connect with like minded professional women and have yet another excuse to hang out with them, get inspiration and learn from them, while working towards a higher recognition of holiday rentals within the travel industry, as we are the forgotten ring of the chain.
What are the current hospitality and travel tech challenges in Holiday Rental? How do you plan to address them?
The holiday rentals challenge at the moment is to get recognised and make our voices heard in mayor travel & tourism fair like ITB, Fitur and WTM
Travel Tech: there is so much available for our sector, all very cool but tremendously expensive, so I would like to figure out a way to make it accessible to small and medium providers (up to 200 units).
What are your chapter plans for 2021?
The plan is to get a diverse group of women together to figure out how we can best make our sector thrive.
How can members get involved with RaizUP Holiday Rentals chapter?
The easiest way to get involved is by signing up or reaching out to me.
